PREVIEW: Montrose v Clyde
Clyde will travel north to Montrose tomorrow, hoping to secure a place in the draw for the Third Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.
The Bully Wee’s manager, Jim Duffy spoke to the official website ahead of the trip and revealed that Gavin Brown – Man of the Match against East Stirling – will require a late fitness test on a groin injury. On loan Felip Mentel is also unable to play in the competition, but Jim wasn’t expecting any other players to miss out.
“There’s a big carrot for both clubs,” he said, “but from our point of view it is a match against a club from the same division, on an artificial surface so we have enough to think about with the tie itself. If we work hard we will be in with a chance but there won’t be much between the teams, as we saw in the earlier match at Broadwood.
“Any kind of victory is always good for morale and there’s been a good atmosphere in training this week. It also helped that there was a good spread of goalscorers against East Stirling, which is always nicer than one guy getting most of the plaudits.
“The guys effort has been fantastic all season and we are just trying to add some consistency to the level of performance at the moment. We’re looking for that at Montrose, rather than taking one step forward and one step back.
“We’ve been able to field a pretty settled side in the last few weeks and provided the boys keep doing well we won’t be looking to change much.”
