PREVIEW: League Opener

The Bully Wee’s 2011-12 IRN-BRU Third Division campaign begins tomorrow, with a very tough opening test.

Bookies’ favourites Peterhead will visit Broadwood, with the Aberdeenshire outfit hoping to bounce back after relegation last season.

Jim Duffy was fully aware of the challenge The Blue Toon would offer as he spoke to the official website today. “Peterhead have an experienced squad and on paper their strike force of Rory McAllister and Martin Bavidge is as strong as you can get in this division,” Jim said.

However, the manager’s pre-match assessment also included a pride in what the Clyde players have contributed to date…

“The boys have worked tremendously hard and achieved a great result last week against the favourites for the Second Division.

“The performances to date have demonstrated what can be achieved. You can’t guarantee victories but if you compete the way we have done and stick at it then you can get rewards and we need to transfer that in to our league matches.”

Craig Tully continues to be a doubt with a knee complaint, but Jim had no other fresh injury worries to report.
