PREVIEW: League Cup Duty
The Bully Wee have their second experience of cup football this season and the opposition will need little introduction to Clyde boss Jim Duffy.
Brechin City are the opponents for tomorrow’s Scottish Communities League Cup First Round tie. Jim Duffy spent 17 months at Brechin before he decided to leave and he was full of praise for the Glebe Park club as he spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk ahead of the match:-
“Brechin have been Second Division Play-Off finalists and have a host of experienced and quality players. It will be a tough task for us but last week proved, despite the end result, the commitment of the lads at the club and we will go into tomorrow’s match determined to do well.
“Mark Archdeacon and Brian McQueen are available for selection. Unfortunately though, Ryan Kane and Paul McMullan will miss out again with Craig Tully also a slight doubt.
“There is better news on Paul as he was able to participate in 30 minutes of a match during the week and we will build that game time up in two more bounce games in the next couple of weeks. All being well, he will be back in contention soon.”
Jim concluded, “We have a number of boys who are experiencing senior football for the very first time and we were heartened at the way they stuck to the task last week, despite the early setback. We will be looking to bring that spirit into the game for tomorrow’s contest.”
