Fans’ Cup Run Ends

Bully Wee United’s UK Cup run came to a valiant end yesterday, following a 0-4 defeat to Preston North End’s fans team at Broadwood.

The Clyde supporters earned the Quarter-Final place after wins over Cambridge and Grimsby Town, but a match against one of the best sides in England (and current cup holders) was always going to be tough and it proved so.

The Lancashire lads were a very good side and dominated most of the match, although BWU did well to get to half-time with the score still at 0-0.

However, a quick goal just after the break opened things up and the visitors went on to record a comfortable and well deserved win.

Both teams then enjoyed a buffet meal in the Westfield Suite and Preston manager Steve Cowell praised BWU and the club for the “fantastic hospitality” his squad received on the day.

BWU wishes them all the best in their efforts to retain the trophy this summer.
