PREVIEW: Clyde v Stranraer
The Bully Wee face a tough task tomorrow as title-chasing Stranraer visit Broadwood for an IRN-BRU Third Division match.
Keith Knox’s men enjoyed a comfortable victory in midweek, with Clyde looking for a reaction following a disappointing display against Albion Rovers.
The squad will be without several players, however. Alan Lithgow (ankle), Paul McMullan (foot), Willie Sawyers (cartilage) and John Sweeney (suspended) all miss out.
The team will once again feature several of the new additions that have arrived at the club in the last few weeks and Jim Duffy commented on them when he spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk ahead of the match:-
“I’ve been pleased with the performances of the guys that have come in. Admittedly, for some it has been quite a change but I think they have done well despite the fact that several had not been playing regularly. No matter what the level of senior football it is, it is completely different from reserve or under-19 football, with even the occasional bounce games being at best semi-competitive.
“The boys from the SPL might not have been playing regularly or may have even had to sit on the bench in SPL games due to that league’s specific under-21 rule, so this is a challenge and they are having to learn during matches. It is a great opportunity for them though and again I have to say how pleased I have been at their attitude.”
