Clyde 0-2 Annan Athletic

Clyde’s search for a home league win in 2010-11 continued this afternoon, as Annan left Broadwood with all three points.

Ross McMillan, Kevin Finlayson, John Sweeney and Hadyn Cochrane were all added to the team that travelled to Montrose last week.

The match started at a fair pace but with little on offer at either end of the pitch, as a midfield battle commenced. It was the visitors that scored with one of the first attempts on goal though and it was gifted to them by some poor defending. A mistake by trialist Brown led to JC Hutchison attempting to punch the ball over the bar, but it stayed in play and was eventually scrambled into the net by Sean O’Connor.

Neil McGowan then came close for Clyde with a long-range effort that took a slight deflection and went just over the bar.

The second half was similar to the first, with the Bully Wee finding a very stubborn Annan defence hard to break down.

At the other end, ex-Broadwood man Ian Harty – incredibly – missed an open goal from two yards but made amends later. On 74 minutes, the striker curled a shot into the corner of the net from the edge of the box.

There was little further action in a poor match overall, leaving the Bully Wee fans disappointed once more.
