Clyde 1-2 East Stirlingshire

Clyde’s bad run of form continued today, as East Stirlingshire left Broadwood with all three points.

After a slow start to the match, the visitors took an early lead with their first attack. Ex-Clyde man David Dunn was able to smash the ball into the net from close range, after slack defending led to Jordan Allan having to partially block a shot.

In response, Nicki Paterson saw his header cleared off the line before there was a lengthy delay in proceedings as another former Broadwood man, Alex Walker was carried off the field in some distress.

An equaliser was soon to come though. Good work by Adam Strachan and trialist Scott Anson allowed Stuart Mills to expertly take the chance to notch his second goal in as many matches.

However, from their second shot on goal, the visitors took the lead again. More disappointing defending from the Bully Wee’s point of view led to Kevin Cawley having the easiest of tasks from six yards.

The second half saw plenty of Clyde endeavour in the search for a way back into the match, but there was little in terms of clear-cut chances being created. John Sweeney was perhaps the unluckiest not to get on the scoresheet when his long-range effort was palmed away by ‘keeper Andrews.

In injury time, substitute John Stewart was shown a straight red for an off the ball incident, completing a miserable afternoon for the Bully Wee.
