Cup Win for Under-17s
The Bully Wee’s under-17s produced a fantastic performance in the Glasgow Cup at Broadwood on Friday night, claiming victory over rivals Partick Thistle.
It was the Clyde youngsters’ second match in the group stage of the competition and the 4-2 scoreline certainly pleased the academy coaches.
Clyde raced into a four-goal lead by the half-time break and it was a special half of football for Gary Oliver. Gary is actually part of the under-16 squad but his good form led to him being awarded the chance at a higher level – which he clearly relished, netting four times.
The Jags tried to mount a comeback in the second period and did score twice, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a home win.
CLYDE: Easton, Attwood, Traynor, Sideserf, McCafferty, Quail, Brown, Kane, Oliver, Molloy, Graham. SUBS: Dickie, Kinlan, Rodger, Minnock, Cameron.
The victory follows on from an opening week defeat to Queen’s Park at Lesser Hampden. Goals from Rhys Minnock and Aaron Kane were not enough as the Spiders came out on top 3-2.
Next up for the youngsters is the visit of Celtic to Broadwood on Wednesday 27th October. Click here for full competition details.
