The club confirmed the signature of 25-year-old Nicki Paterson last night, with the midfielder going on to make an unhappy debut at Links Park this afternoon.
Paterson, a former Hamilton and Motherwell youngster, moved to the USA in 2005 to study but continued to play the game in his new country of residence.
That led to him being offered professional terms by Harrisburg City Islanders in 2009 and he went on to feature for Real Maryland Monarchs this year.
Nicki returned to Scotland recently, however, and impressed the Bully Wee coaching staff during a trial period.
After the necessary paperwork was received from the US Soccer Federation on Friday, Nicki put pen to paper on an amateur contract with Clyde.
