Clyde 2-2 Everton XI

The Bully Wee’s pre-season preparations continued at Broadwood tonight, with a very enjoyable draw against a strong Everton XI side.

The Toffees added some additional first team squad members to their pool at a late stage, including striker James Vaughan and new Portugese signing Joao Silva.

CLYDE: Hutchison, Park, McGowan, McMillan, Henderson, Sweeney, Finlayson, Stevenson, Dingwall, McCusker, Strachan. SUBS: Gray, Girvan, Cochrane, Stewart, Allan, Mills, Trialist.

It was Clyde that opened the scoring, when Marc McCusker raced in behind the defence and finished well. Everton equalised via a rebound after a JC Hutchison save, but Bryan Dingwall soon restored the lead with a good finish on a loose ball in the box. Vaughan rounded off the scoring in what was an entertaining match, when he made it 2-2 with a low drive.

The only squad member not to see any action during the evening was Willie Sawyers, still not match fit.

It was certainly a very worthwhile exercise for the players ahead of Saturday’s first competitive match at Firhill and Clyde FC would like to thank David Moyes and all the backroom staff at Everton FC for their kind participation in the friendly.
