JC’s Initial Thoughts

“Everyone just calls me JC,” explained new Bully Wee goalkeeper John Charles Hutchison as he spoke to the official website this week. The signing from Camelon talked about how the move came about:-

“Clyde came to watch me a couple of weeks ago in a match against Bo’ness and luckily I played really well. I got a phonecall on the Sunday and came in and agreed terms on the Monday night.

“I was delighted, it’s a big club and I knew straight away that I wanted to sign here.”

The move to Broadwood represents a chance for JC to prove himself at SFL level, but it’s not the first time he’s been on the books of a senior club:-

“When I was younger I had spells at Hibs and Falkirk but they didn’t really work out for me.

“I didn’t enjoy my time at Hibs. I know it’s only an hour along the road, but I was homesick. I signed a two-year deal at Falkirk but I didn’t see eye-to-eye with John Hughes so it wasn’t long before I left there.

“I then went to Junior football and the three years I had at Camelon were brilliant for me – it’s a tough environment. I’ve always wanted to have another shot at senior level though and hopefully I can prove a few people wrong.”

One of Clyde’s best players in recent times, Jack Ross, also made the switch from Camelon and went on to captain the club. JC was already aware of that:-

“Jack has done really well and is in the SPL with St. Mirren now. It shows what can be done and I’d like to follow in his footsteps if possible. I had brilliant times at Camelon and there’s a great bunch of boys there.”

The ‘keeper finished by commenting on his recent trip with the Scotland Junior team:-

“That was really good. I went away with the squad not expecting to play but I played in two games, it was a great experience.”
