Stenhousemuir 0-3 Clyde

The Bully Wee claimed the three points at Ochilview today, with a fine all-round performance in the Stirlingshire sunshine.

Neil Watt fielded the same team that showed many positives against Alloa during the week and Clyde again matched their opponents in the early stages. Willie McLachlan came closest to scoring when his powerful shot from outside the box was tipped over the bar by home ‘keeper McCluskey.

On 27 minutes though, Clyde did make the breakthrough. A cross by Dmitrijs Borisovs was well attacked by Alan Lithgow and his downward header found the back of the net.

Moments later, Jordan White hit the bar but at the other end the Warriors also hit the woodwork as they tried to drag themselves back into the match. There was also a little bit of luck – sadly lacking in some recent matches – for the Bully Wee before the break, as a low cross was somehow deflected away from Callum Reidford’s goal at the back post.

Clyde defended well in the second half and looked comfortable until a lovely second goal doubled the lead. A passing move involving four or five players led to Connor Stevenson moving into space in the box and his cut-back was slotted in by White.

The Bully Wee soon notched a third goal and it was even better than the second. Adam Strachan raced onto a ball over the top and, from an acute angle, smashed a shot into the net via the bar and post.

That ended the match as a contest and there was little further action before the final whistle.
