Clyde 0-4 Manchester Utd XI

A young and very talented Manchester United side were too good for the Bully Wee at Broadwood this afternoon, in what was an entertaining friendly match.

Clyde featured ex-Rangers centre-half Scott Nisbet as a trialist and he faced up to a Man Utd side featuring names such as Obertan, Da Silva, Tosic and Brandy.

United’s pace and trickery caused Clyde problems from the first whistle but it was an own goal from Paul Stewart that opened the scoring. Fabien Brandy made it 0-2 before half-time, with second half goals from Rafael Da Silva and a penalty by Magnus Eikrem completing the scoring.

Clyde’s best chances to score fell in the second half. Steven Howarth was very unlucky to see his header come back off the post following an Ally Park cross and a brilliant solo run by Steven Odunewu could have resulted in a wonder goal, but he blazed over the bar.

Overall though, it was a credible showing against a Red Devils side that provided a lot of good football for the 2365 crowd in Cumbernauld.

After the final whistle, United were presented with the Advance Construction Scotland trophy which they will take home to Old Trafford tonight.

Club director Frank Dunn also passed a commemorative gift to Ole Gunnar Solksjaer (pictured) as a thanks to Sir Alex Ferguson, Ole and all at Manchester United for their part in making the day such a success and an important boost financially.
