Cowdenbeath 1-0 Clyde

The Bully Wee’s season went from bad to worse following a 1-0 defeat away to Cowdenbeath this afternoon. Postman Jay Stein delivered the killer blow in the 23rd minute and Clyde were unable to respond and sunk to the bottom of the division.

John Brown had to alter his plans before kick-off as Dave McKay, who was meant to start, was held up in traffic.

A lacklustre start to the game saw Clyde have slightly the better of the play, but defensive frailties were exposed when Stein was allowed to turn in the box and put a chipped effort past Calum Reidford.

Reidford was then forced to pull off a fine save to stop the scoreline doubling. Clyde’s only shot on goal in the first half – and only attempt on target in the 90 minutes – came from a Willie McLachlan free-kick that was comfortably dealt with.

The belated McKay and Jay Lang replaced Odunewu and trialist Marvyn Wilson at the break – the latter suffering, following a midweek illness. Adam Coakley also came on for Scott Gair soon afterwards.

It made little difference however as the hosts held out comfortably, with only a McLeod header from a McKay cross worrying the home ‘keeper before full-time.
