Peterhead 2-0 Clyde

Clyde’s Second Division campaign got off to a losing start in Peterhead this afternoon.

A good travelling support enjoyed some fine weather but the team was forced to compete without the services of the injured Halliday and Coakley, Ally Park (suspended) and Paul Stewart (illness).

Darren Walker returned in an unaccustomed left wing back role, with a trialist completing the line-up on the other side of the pitch.

The hosts scored early on when, following a slip by Lithgow, Ross’ speculative shot beat Reidford. There were a couple more scares for the Bully Wee before Dave McKay had a chance to level, hitting the side netting from a tight angle.

Jay Lang was then extremely unlucky to see his free-kick crash back off the inside of the post.

Alan McFadden was introduced at half-time as the team was re-shaped and Walker had a great chance to level, but his low drive was saved.

The next goal was scored by the Blue Toon, Ross getting his second on 68 minutes, and there were few other chances created by Clyde before the final whistle went.
