Home League Campaign Begins

Clyde’s first home game of the new season takes place at Broadwood tomorrow, with Stirling Albion visiting Cumbernauld.

Three players that missed last week’s trip to Peterhead are back in the squad. Paul Stewart returns following illness, Ally Park’s suspension is over and Adam Coakley is fit to make his debut.

Robert Halliday is still at least a week away from returning, however, and Willie Sawyers is also out. A troublesome injury is also keeping left back Connor Cassidy on the sidelines.

Clyde boss John Brown spoke to the website about the current squad today…

“Losing Robert Halliday has been a major disappointment especially as Connor Cassidy is still some way from challenging for a top team place. That has affected the shape of the side and I’ll need to change that again tomorrow. I felt Robert was making good progress and was just needing some games to sharpen up but hopefully he can get back into contention for next week.

“Injuries and suspensions have affected things, after all the players are just getting to know each other. Even last week we had to throw a trialist in at the deep end, added to the fact players are sometimes being asked to play in unfamiliar positions and that has not been easy for the guys.

“It is a boost for us that Adam (Coakley) is ready, Ally is available and having Paul Stewart back is another positive.

“Paul is training to be a PE teacher and has worked hard at his coaching so he communicates well with the squad and has been most helpful since he returned to Broadwood.

“After the rain today, I just want the game on so we can start getting points on the board. It certainly will be a hard task but the boys are determined to bounce back from last week’s disappointment.”
