Stenhousemuir 2-0 Clyde

Clyde’s season began with a little disappointment at Ochilview today, following a 2-0 loss and an early exit from the ALBA Challenge Cup.

Ten players made their full debut but as the first half progressed it was the Bully Wee who looked on top, albeit with few clear-cut chances being created at either end.

The Warriors appeared stronger after the break, but it was Jay Lang who came closest to scoring when his free-kick was just tipped over the bar.

On 75 minutes though, ex-Clyde man Craig O’Reilly struck a low shot into the net after two other attempts were blocked.

John Brown’s men struggled to get back into the match thereafter and a late breakway led to Dalziel confirming the victory for the home side with a fine finish.

It was a harsh introduction to the season for the team, but positives can be taken ahead of next week’s Co-op Insurance Cup tie against Forfar.
