Rebuilding Begins as Seven Sign

The first foundations of the new Bully Wee squad were laid today with the signature of seven players that have impressed during the pre-season trial period.

Ally Park (19), a right sided defender, joins after being released by Hibs. He was part of their under-19 side that enjoyed league and cup success in 2008-09.

Also signed after being freed by an SPL side is 19-year-old Scott Gair. The central defender left St. Mirren at the end of last season.

Ex Celtic and Portsmouth youngster Mark Casey (26) has also joined the club. After leaving Pompey, he had spells at Ayr and Albion Rovers and plays in the heart of the midfield.

Another ex-Ayr United man who has put pen to paper is Conn Boyle (18). He’s a winger who likes to take men on.

Maryhill duo Willie Sawyers and Alan McFadden are making the step up to senior football at Broadwood. Target-man Sawyers, 22, scored 44 goals for the Junior outfit last season and will be joined in a white jersey by his strike-partner McFadden, 26.

Last but not least, a “new” player that will be familiar to many Clyde fans is midfielder Paul Stewart. Paul previously played for the Bully Wee as a youngster in the late 90s but now returns at the relatively experienced age of 29, after leaving East Fife. He has also been assisting with the coaching over the summer.

It’s likely that all of the above will feature against Partick Thistle tomorrow. They will play alongside trialists that are close to concluding deals or still trying to convince John Brown they should be part of the 2009-10 squad.

Members of the new under-19 squad may also be involved (with an introduction to them to follow on www.clydefc.co.uk soon).
