We’re Not Dun Yet!
Tomorrow sees the penultimate round of fixtures in the IRN-BRU First Division and anything less than a win for Clyde against Dundee will mean relegation.
However, a Bully Wee victory along with Airdrie dropping points at Firhill will mean that the fight to reach the play-offs goes to the last day of the season.
It’s all to play for when the match kicks-off so the support of the home crowd could make all the difference, as the team try and emulate the last home fixture at Broadwood.
Stuart Kettlewell is struggling with a knee injury he picked up at Palmerston and will face a fitness test before the match. Tony Stevenson is also a doubt to play due to a muscle strain and Marvyn Wilson will serve the last of a three-match suspension.
Gregory Tade, however, has trained all week and could go straight back into the side.
Assistant manager Dougie Bell did not entertain any talk that the relegation issue is over when he spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk this evening:-
“I’ve been saying all week that there’s a chance this could go to the last day and the players believe that as well. If I was in Airdrie’s position I certainly wouldn’t be feeling relaxed.
“I think we all feel that we’ve got something to prove after last week’s result. I was personally embarrassed by it. The biggest disappointed for me was that we chucked it when we lost the fourth goal and that wasn’t acceptable.
“Their first three goals were crackers and we were two down before we’d had a chance to even pass the ball, but if you are having a bad day you keep going and at least stop your opponent playing until things change.
“Tomorrow we’re expecting a performance more like the one we produced against Airdrie. The early goal made a difference in that game and we’ll be looking to start with a similar attacking frame of mind and give the support something to go on.”
