Clyde 2 v 0 Dundee

A two-goal win for Clyde eventually meant nothing today as an Airdrie win at Firhill confirmed that the Bully Wee will play in the Second Division next season.

The first half was a nervy affair, with chances few and far between. Gregory Tade came close with a shot that was blocked and at the other end David Hutton pulled off a fine save from close range.

Not long after the break, a corner by Willie McLaren was deflected into the net by Andrew Shinnie to make it 1-0 and raise hope.

Some Dundee pressure followed but it was Clyde who got a second, when sub Winters released McLaren and he slotted the ball past Douglas.

Meanwhile, during the second half St. Johnstone wrapped up the title with two goals against Morton and the inevitable was then expected at Firhill.

As the full-time whistle went at Broadwood news of Airdrie’s winning goal against Partick Thistle filtered through to make the 2-0 win irrelevant.
