Awards Presented

Following Saturday’s final game of the season at East End Park, Chris Higgins was presented with his Website Player of the Year trophy by assistant manager Dougie Bell.

Chris was delighted to receive his first award at the end of a fine fourth year at the club.

He ended the season on 43 Man of the Match points, as voted for by members throughout the campaign. He just beat Billy Gibson (40 points), who led for much of the season. Alan Lithgow finished third on 33 points, which is a great achievement for the young defender after only making his debut in November.

You can view the full points standings and the rest of the final statistics for 2008-09 at the Squad > Statistics page.

Gibson did, of course, win the club’s official Player of the Year award, as organised by the Castlemilk Branch of Clyde supporters. Unfortunately, due to illness he was unable to collect it in person after the Dundee match but Neil McGregor accepted it on his behalf from Grace Donald.

As previously reported, Billy was also named Clyde Crew Player of the Year at their recent end of season night and the popular defender completed a hat-trick of awards when he was nominated as the Executive Club’s top man of the year.

Congratulations to both players.
