Awards for Billy & Chris

Billy Gibson and Chris Higgins have scooped the two big end of season awards, following the last home match of the season against Dundee on Saturday.

Immediately after the match, Gibson was named as the club’s official Player of the Year, as organised by the Castlemilk Branch of Clyde supporters.

All fans in attendance at the penultimate home match against Airdrie were given the opportunity to vote.

Due to illness, Billy was not able to collect the trophy in person, but Neil McGregor accepted it on his behalf from Castlemilk member Grace Donald.

Meanwhile, following today’s result in the Dundee Man of the Match vote, Higgins has been confirmed as Website Player of the Year.

His two points for second place took his season’s tally to 40 points, the same as Gibson. Both men have been voted as Man of the Match seven times, so Chris’ better league total was the deciding factor, with Billy definitely unable to play at East End Park.

Website members have been voting for their top three performers in each Bully Wee match during 2008-09, with a running points total counting towards the overall award.

You can see the points on the Squad > Statistics page.

Chris will be presented with his trophy at a time and place to be confirmed.

Both men have performed well for the majority of the season, in difficult circumstances and it is perhaps fitting that they have both been recognised officially for their efforts.
