Connor Makes Clyde History

Amongst the despair at Palmerston on Saturday, a bit of history was made as Connor Stevenson became the club’s youngest ever player.

Connor, a product of the club’s youth development structure, signed a professional contract earlier in the year thanks to backing from the Supporters’ Trust. He took to the field as a second half sub aged just 16 years and 245 days.

Funding the Future

The previous owner of this accolade was Michael Doherty, who appeared in a Challenge Cup match in 2007 just before his 17th birthday. Research then failed to find anyone who had pulled on a white jersey at a younger age for a competitive match.

Connor’s historic debut was made in unfortunate circumstances but he still managed to show some glimpses of why he is so highly thought of at the club.
