Club Statement: CDC Consultation
Clyde Development Consortium Ltd, the controlling shareholder of Clyde FC has today advised the club that it intends to enter into a consultation process with club stakeholders to develop a model of ownership that best reflects the needs of the football club.
It has been generally agreed that the historic structure of a football club like Clyde trading as a limited company operated for the purpose of profit and financial return to its shareholders is long since redundant. The aim is to develop a structure that promotes success, community involvement, transparency, good governance and commercial effectiveness.
The three boards that govern the club have worked with Supporters Direct and Stirling University Sports Management unit to produce a study into the operation of Clyde within the Scottish football market having regard to the changing influences of finances in the game and the core aims of the club. The club is grateful for the financial support of Cooperative Development Scotland in the development of the study.
Preparatory work has begun and a framework will be developed to involve shareholders, supporters, football authorities and major partners in the consultation process that will hopefully set the foundation for the rebirth of our club.
