Welcome Aboard, Clyde
The official website is delighted to introduce you to one of the Bully Wee’s newest fans… Clyde Hewett.
Clyde Duncan Jefferson Hewett is pictured here with his Granda Duncan Cameron, a lifelong fan of the club.
Duncan started watching Clyde with his dad and three uncles at Shawfield in the 1950s, aged just 4. Over time, more of the family joined in until there were nine of them standing on the terraces behind the goal.
Duncan and his cousins followed the team both home and away, but in recent years, due to family and work commitments, only a few of the cousins now attend matches. However, Duncan still remains a keen fan from a far.
His daughter Nicola, originally from Erskine but now living on the Isle of Wight, contacted the website following the birth of Clyde. “I left Scotland in 2001 and following the birth of my second child I felt that I had to name him after such a strong part of my childhood,” she said.
“His name brings me back to the times spent by the Clyde and stories of my Dad’s support for the club.”
Welcome to the Clyde family, Clyde!
