Reserves Power Past the Warriors

Clyde reserves continued their recent run of good form with a 1-3 victory over Stenhousemuir at Ochilview this evening in the Reserve League Cup.

The Bully Wee impressed in the first half and went in at the interval with a two goal lead following goals from Ruari MacLennan and Alan Trouten (left).

The home side responded in the second half and reduced Clyde’s advantage before a late goal from Scott Gemmill sealed the victory for the Bully Wee.

Assistant manager Dougie Bell spoke to the official website immediately after the game:-

“I was pleased with the performance. We played some really good football in the first half and could have scored more.

“Marc McCusker and Scott Gemmill did well up front and Alan Trouten was very effective playing just behind the front two. Stenhousemuir fielded an experienced side and came more into the game in the second half but I thought we deserved the victory and it was pleasing all round.”

Dougie continued, “This competition is important to us as it allows players on the fringes to get competitive matches under their belt and its equally encouraging for the reserves to get back into a winning habit once more.”

Clyde (3-5-2): Cherrie, Irvine, Waddell, Ruari MacLennan, Wilson, Murch, Roddy MacLennan, Trouten, Gemmill, McCusker, Connolly (Walker 87).
