Clyde 1 v 0 Airdrie United

Clyde secured an excellent 1-0 victory against Airdrie United tonight. Second half substitute Alan Trouten got the crucial goal with a fine individual effort on the 74th minute.

Things didn’t look as good during the first period though, as the visitors totally controlled the match in terms of possession and general play, although did fail to create many clear-cut chances.

They did hit the top of the bar with one effort but Willie McLaren came closest to opening the scoring with a speculative shot that came back off the crossbar.

The half-time introduction of Alan Trouten and Ruari MacLennan signalled John Brown’s intent but the latter was sent off after just three minutes on the pitch.

Strangely though, the numerical disadvantage led to Clyde dominating the rest of the match and could have and should have opened the scoring before Trouten’s excellent finish.

There was one nervy moment for the Bully Wee as David Hutton fumbled a cross but he recovered to make a great save at the second attempt.
