Brown Back in the Squad

Mark Brown (left) will make a welcome return to the Bully Wee squad for tomorrow’s short trip to the Excelsior Stadium to face Airdrie United.

However, midfielders Stuart Kettlewell and Paul Emslie are doubts and face a late fitness test tomorrow to see if they can take part in the match.

They may be forced to join Marvyn Wilson (groin), Willie McLaren (ankle) and Marc McCusker (toe) on the sidelines.

John Brown spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk this afternoon, ahead of the clash with an on form Diamonds side:-

“Airdrie are going well and they’ve got a good defensive record. They’re a solid unit so we’ll need to defend well and then create at the other end.

“It’s a local derby and we know that we’ve got to be up for it. It’ll be tough but we’re going there to have a go and take the game to them.

“We’ve started reasonably well and we just need to convert some decent performances into more points. The attitude of the players is great and they’ve been finishing matches strongly so we want to also start that way and put in performances for 90 minutes.

“We’re only six points off the top so three points could make a big difference. It’s a tighter league this season and three of four good results in a row can take you well up the table. I think that’s the way it’ll be for most of the season.”
