English Clubs Await The Bully Wee
Clyde’s tour of Norfolk gets underway at the end of the week and the club’s two English opponents are getting prepared for the friendly matches.
The Saturday match against Great Yarmouth Town is first up and up to 100 Bully Wee fans are expected to make the weekend leg of the trip. The Bloaters are also hoping for a big local turn-out and their Chairman, Steven Brierley hailed the fixture as a superb occasion for the seaside town:-
“It’s a privilege to be able to entertain a club of Clyde’s standing. It will be good for our players to have this experience as it will point them a little towards what we want to achieve here which starts with a professional attitude.”
Admission to the Wellesley Recreation Ground for the game has been set at £5 for adults and £2 for senior citizens & children aged 10-16 years; accompanied children under 10 are to be admitted free.
The game itself will be preceded by a four-team Under-9s mini-tournament, commencing at 1pm.
Blue Square North outfit King’s Lynn are a club with a similar fanbase to Clyde and have just been promoted to what is a very competitive league.
Their current goalkeeper is no stranger to Clyde. Scott Howie (pictured) has recently signed a new contract, making him almost certain to feature in the match.
The Linnets preparations for the new season received another big boost last month when they secured the services of former Aston Villa and England Under-21 striker Julian Joachim. The 33-year-old will certainly give Neil McGregor, Chris Higgins and the rest of the Clyde defence a stern test.
King’s Lynn Secretary, Nigel Link said:-
“Any Clyde supporters coming to the game are sure to be given a warm welcome by our fans and the club. I am sure that many friends will be made on the night.”
Admission to The Walks Stadium for the Tuesday night match has been set at £9 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for children.
There will be a third match for The Bully Wee on the tour, against Championship outfit Norwich City on Monday. However, as previously reported, this is a strictly closed door affair but the official website will bring you a detailed report on the game.
