Clyde View Summer Specials
The Clyde View will break with tradition when it publishes programmes for the three summer glamour games that lie ahead.
The policy of not producing programmes for pre-season matches has only been broken once in the last two decades, when Manchester United visited Broadwood in 2005. However, Clyde View Editor, John Taylor admitted, “Given the significance of the visits of Rangers and Hibs and the fact that Broadwood will stage Annan Athletic’s historic entry into Scottish senior football, it was clear that there would be a high demand for all three issues.
“With Rangers bringing a full strength squad and Clyde fielding Jorg Albertz and Brian Laudrup, interest in that game has exceeded our expectations.
“When Hibs come to Cumbernauld eight days later, they will do so to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our meeting in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden. This particular issue will have a large emphasis on that game.
“In between those times, we will produce our first ever Challenge Cup programme to mark Annan’s debut. Demand from dealers for this issue has already been high and it will definitely be a collector’s item.”
The Rangers edition will feature a specially commissioned cover that will make it a great souvenir for fans of both clubs.
All three issues will have a cover price of £2.50 and will be distinctly different from the new-look 2008-09 publication, which will be on sale from the Morton match onwards.
Clyde fans can take advantage of a very special offer by taking out a postal subscription for the new season. Not only will this guarantee delivery of every single league and cup game issue on the day of the match, it will also include copies of each of the three special issues detailed above.
