Clyde 5 v 3 Alloa Athletic (aet) (6-5)
Clyde produced a remarkable comeback this afternoon in what must be one of the best matches ever witnessed at Broadwood.
The Bully Wee dominated the first half and took the lead via a Jimmy Gibson header but somehow ended up behind at the interval. A stunning strike by Brown Ferguson and a free-kick that evaded everybody made it 1-2 at half-time.
An own goal by Dusan Bestvina looked to have consigned Clyde to the Second Division but Gary Arbuckle gave supporters hope with a neat finish. The match was firmly back on when Billy Gibson headed home a couple of minutes later.
The great escape was completed by the impressive Gary McSwegan, who flicked home from a corner to send the tie into extra-time.
The drama continued when, with just a few minutes remaining, McSwegan played a clever ball into the box for Pat Clarke and he finished superbly to make it 5-3 and 6-5 on aggregate.
Airdrie will be the opponents in next week’s final, with the first leg taking place at New Broomfield on Wednesday night.
