Airdrie United 0 v 1 Clyde
A battling team performance and Pat Clarke goal led to a great result at the Excelsior Stadium tonight.
Backed by a large travelling support, The Bully Wee were the stronger team during the first half but failed to create many chances as both sides defended well. Gary Arbuckle came closest with a dipping shot from outside the box that was saved.
The home side took control of the match more often after the break, but failed again to test Hutton with anything other than cross balls.
Jorg Albertz and Gary McSwegan were introduced from the bench and their experience helped swing the match back to Clyde. The winning goal came on 77 minutes, when a long free-kick quickly taken by Michael McGowan was controlled by Clarke, who finished well from the edge of the box.
Airdrie pressed forward in search of an equaliser but the last chance fell at the other end to Ruari MacLennan, when he missed a glorious opportunity to make it two in the last minute.
