Two For The Road
Clyde’s match winners Craig McKeown and Neil McGregor spoke to the press after yesterday’s victory, before they set off for Manchester with the rest of the team for their Christmas night out.
Central defender McKeown was in good form on and off the park:-
“I had a nightmare for the first ten minutes. Sometimes it’s just like that but I managed to get back on track and the goal was a bonus. The ball broke to me I swung at it and then I thought ‘that’s going in!’ I don’t get that many so I’m delighted.
“Everyone gives the strikers stick but we are a team. Clyde aren’t going to be signing Ronaldinho in January so we all have a responsibility. In that way, I thought Michael and Taz were fantastic today on the wings. It was good to come out on top against such a good side – Livi are a team who have got a lot of players that can hurt you.
“I think football will be put in the cupboard for a wee while as we enjoy our night.”
Craig certainly emphasised the good spirit within the camp at present as he joked about his latest flatmate, Christian Smith:-
“Let’s just say he is the first guy I’ve shared with who doesn’t know how to cut cheese or even work a toaster. But at least he has learned how to wash the dishes!!!
“I thought Christian was also excellent today. The big man has come in for some stick from the fans but people forget he is just 19. He has had to cope with his first full season of playing first team football and also had the difficult task of replacing Craig Bryson. I thought he showed the potential that he has today.”
Club Captain McGregor also highlighted the team spirit at the club and dismissed any talk of unrest in the dressing room:-
“I don’t know where that’s come from. The boys are all together and every day during the week we are behind each other 100%.”
