Sharp-eyed Clyde fans would have noticed a new face in the technical area at New Douglas Park yesterday. The man in question was Ian Jones, a highly rated UEFA ‘B’ coach who is currently with the Blackburn Rovers.
Colin Hendry shed some light on Ian’s involvement: “He is a highly respected coach at Blackburn’s Centre of Excellence and wished to gain some more experience. It came out of the blue and I welcomed his input and insight.
“I know he was surprised at the amount and type of work required by the small coaching staff behind the scenes at Clyde as compared to Blackburn.”
Colin continued, “Ian also commented on the age of our players. He is only 27 himself but even he remarked on the appearance of the players, as he realised that they were still developing physically yet had to carry the responsibility of fulfilling first team duties.
“All of which is true, but it is something that we are all in together and results of late have shown that we are going in the right direction.”
