Manager Appointed

Clyde Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Colin Hendry as Manager. The former Scottish internationalist needs no introduction to football fans and the Club are thrilled that he has this evening agreed to join up at Broadwood.

Colin, 41, has a wealth of experience having played at the highest level north and south of the border.

He began his professional career in 1983 with Dundee before switching to Blackburn Rovers four years later. He played over 100 games for the Ewood Park side before joining Manchester City in 1989, where he was named Player of the Year in the 1989-1990 season.

He rejoined Blackburn and was inspirational in helping them to great success, including winning the Premiership under the guidance of Kenny Dalglish.

In 1998, he signed for Rangers for £4million and helped them win a domestic treble in his first season at Ibrox.

After his time at Rangers, spells followed at Coventry City and Bolton Wanderers, as well as Preston North End and Blackpool on loan, before he retired from playing.

At the end of an illustrious career, Colin had totalled 639 club appearances and scored 51 goals.

On the international scene, he won 51 caps for Scotland despite not making his debut until the age of 27. One of his proudest moments in football was captaining the national squad at the memorable 1998 World Cup in France. His last Scotland appearance was in a 4-0 victory over San Marino, in which he scored twice.

Colin soon moved onto management and was appointed boss at Blackpool in June 2004, but, after a successful first season at Bloomfield Road, he left in November 2005. Subsequently, he had a short spell coaching at Boston United.

It was thought that he was set to move abroad to coach again, this time in the USA, but the lure of Cumbernauld and The Bully Wee was too great and the big Scot will immediately start to build a squad able to compete with the best in the First Division next season.
