Malone and O’Donnell Go

Today saw confirmation of the departure of Stephen O’Donnell and Eddie Malone to St. Mirren. The Paisley side have tracked the two for a considerable period of time with the Buddies management duo of McPherson and Millen being virtually permanent features in the Main Stand at Broadwood in the last month or so.

Stephen and Eddie put together some memorable performances in their time at Clyde. O’Donnell made a huge impact when he was introduced to the side as he bolstered the attack from the midfield and the ex-Dundee United player has netted 16 times in his stint with Clyde.

At the same time, Malone grew to become a fans’ favourite. It was last season when Eddie came to the fore, when he revelled in being given a greater license to attack in addition to his wholehearted displays in defence. Malone added further to his game by displaying greater discipline and the team captaincy came his way too for a period.

O’Donnell and Malone’s expertise at set plays will be missed. The pair have jointly achieved 13 assists this season and of course few will ever forget Malone’s most memorable goal against Celtic in the Scottish Cup last year.

The club wishes Stephen and Eddie all the best for their future careers in the SPL.
