Clyde 1 V 0 Ayr United

Clyde reached the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup for the first time in five years tonight thanks to a fine strike by Captain Paul McHale in the second half.

David Hutton made his debut but was hardly involved in what was a poor game overall. Stephen O’Donnell missed a late chance to make the result more comfortable when his penalty, after Dougie Imrie was brought down, was saved by the visiting keeper.

The draw for the semi-finals, also including Ross County, Morton and Albion Rovers, will take place on Thursday afternoon.
