Youngsters To The Fore!
The Clyde squad have had another good week’s training and are looking forward to taking part in this weekend’s matches at East Kilbride. Although all preseason matches are with one aim, that is to get ready for the new season, the players are determined to go out and earn their first piece of silverware this season.
A couple of trialists may well be in action but with the coaching staff keen to utilise the squad to the full it will mean that a number of youngsters will again get the chance to shine.
The ability and attitude of the younger members of the Clyde squad has certainly been one of the plus points of the pre season to date. It certainly is testimony to the work undertaken by Alan Upton, Dougie Bell and others who started from scratch in preparing the Under 19 squad last season.
Against Rangers last Saturday, McLennan, McKenna and McGowan were able to aptly demonstrate their potential. Indeed, David (Div) McGowan was plucked from a boys club in Easterhouse only
The Youth development programme is of course supported in great measure by the Supporter’s Trust and that finance coupled with coaching skills at Clyde is evidently producing encouraging results. Saturday will be another test to see how they are developing and all the players will appreciate great a healthy Bully Wee backing at the weekend.
