Clyde 5 Brechin City 1
Clyde romped to their biggest home victory of the season this afternoon by beating Brechin by 5 goals to 1. Graham Roberts was first to comment about today’s victory over Brechin, “To be honest in training we saw the lads were buzzing again. We had seen that people had been tired for example Tom Brighton and Stephen O’Donnell and we felt that we would shuffle it up today. The two lads up front were magnificent and it could have been a lot more. We have been threatening to do that to them all season. The only sloppiness was the silly goal we conceded.”
“It was a good reaction to last Saturday. We had a few chats after Queen of the South, despite reports there was no reading of the riot act just constructive talks. We didn’t want the season to fizzle out and the lads have responded magnificently.”
“We said that we knew 4 or 5 were looking tired and they do look tired as they’ve played thirty odd games whereas before some have been used to playing one. So this week we have had some light sessions, good training sessions and at the end of it we got a good performance.”
“Sean McKenna made his debut because he has been doing very well in the U19s. Next year we are looking to bring some 10 or 11 skillseekers on board. We will have our squad and the ones we’ve got coming through are very talented and I thought he did excellently.”
Eddie Malone gave master marksman Williams a backhanded compliment, “He’s just a wee poacher eh! Does that in training as well just
“We were a bit angry with the goal we conceded but the gaffer told us to keep passing the ball and that would open them up. The boys are happy as we have been due a win. It helped that the gaffer freshened things up today the boys that came in did well. As for me people are now saying that I never score a bad goal! But it is only my second goal since coming to Clyde so hopefully more goals will keep coming and I can add that to my game.”
Finally Craig Bryson many fans man of the match today commented, “It’s great to score 5 at home. We haven’t done that this season. I thought I played well but I thought the whole team played well not just me and that was what set up the victory. Gaffer freshened up the team and it’s paid off for him and we played to 100% and we won 5-1. We’ve had bad results but nobody expected us to win the league but today hopefully means we are back on track and can build for next season to allow the gaffer to bring in new players and go for the title.”
