St Mirren V Clyde Preview

The scene is set for a great introduction to 2006 with what is Clyde’s biggest week of the season so far. Much will be written about the cup tie with Celtic next Sunday but Monday’s match with St Mirren is far more important.

Saturday’s result moved Clyde to second place, a fact that brought this irresistible quote from Manager Graham Roberts: “It’s amazing what happens when you host trials!”

Since the Manager’s unique and almost unavoidable appraoch to recuitment, Clyde’s success has been built on teamwork and a youthful passion to attack.

It would not be giving away any state secrets to suggest that it is likely that Clyde will be going all out for a victory at Love Street. Following the excitement of the previous match at Broadwood there is every reason to expect, with both squads at virtual full strength, another cracker. Only long term injury victims Craig Hinchcliffe and Paul McHale appear to be absent from the proceedings.

If victory is gained by the home side, then Saints fans will consider that they will have one hand on the championship trophy. For Clyde, it will give hope that this extraordinary season that has seen the club start with only two players, proceed to hold Scotland’s Champions league representatives level over 90 minutes, to now be placed in second placed above much more fancied rivals may yet become even more extraordinary.

According to the St Mirren official website for the match Clyde supporters will be housed in the West Stand and the gate prices are as follows:

£15 – Adult
£8 – Concession (OAP or child)
£20 – Parent & Child (£4 per additional child)

Enjoy the game!
