Clyde Pay The Penalty
Clyde suffered a setback in the League campaign today. Despite a valiant second half fightback, the Bully Wee failed to recover from allowing visitors St Johnstone to race to a three goal lead. A Tom Brighton double was not enough and despite lots of pressure the Perth Saints held on for their second win at Broadwood, running out 3-2 winners.

Graham Roberts summed up the feeling of the Clyde support after the game. “Its been a disappointing day. We started ok but lost two sloppy goals. I noted at the warm up that we lacked urgency.”
“I’m not going to have a go at my youngsters nor will I speak about the referee as I don’t want to give the SFA money.”
“We were without some key players today and it showed. The young boys did alright but maybe now is the time that the Club will need to delve into the money it has made this year as we need three or four players to boost the squad.”
“I had some harsh words for the players at half time as some guys had gone missing and I’m pleased at the character they showed after the break but we simply can’t give teams a three goal start. Last week we took all the plaudits and now we have to take some stick.”
Tom Brighton also spoke to the website. “There was definitely no hangover from the Celtic game. You’ve got to give St Johnstone
As for his own future Tom commented on the speculation. “I’ve heard it all before. It is just paper talk. I love it at Clyde. I love playing every week and there is no way that any attention is going to affect me as I’m fully focussed on doing well for Clyde.”
A much happier man was Owen Coyle. “I’m delighted with the result especially as five or six important players were missing. After our cup result I was looking for a reaction and I hope the fans appreciated it.”
“We stood up to everything Clyde threw at us and made the clear-cut opportunities. I felt we were well worth the two goal half time lead. The game should have been dead and buried at 3-0 but we lost another deflected goal and some of the guys are fragile in confidence and we needed to dig deep but even then we missed some sitters. I felt we were the better side over ninety minutes and fully deserved the points.”
“I’ve been confident all week we would get a result here. Now I want to freshen up the team with some new signings and it will be a boost to get some of our injured players. I won’t give up on the league yet as there are still a lot of points to be played for and I’ve seen teams lose huge leads before.”
