Stranraer Victory – In Steven And Stephen’S View
Steven Masterton (pictured left) was undoubtedly proud of his late late winner against Stranraer. “I just knew the guys would not want me to rush it and I took my time and slotted it in. It didn’t take a deflection but the ball swerved and the keeper was beaten. I’ve played the last eleven games following Paul’s (McHale) injury but long may it continue”
Stevie confirmed that it had been a very difficult afternoon. “4-5-1 is such a tough formation to play against so we needed to keep a high tempo. At times it was hard, so to get the three points was magnificent.”
Stephen felt the win was justified. “We put in waves of attacks and Stranraer’s tactics did frustrate us but overall I felt we played well enough. We did get a big let off when Leigh Hinds missed in the second half but it maybe gave us the kick we needed.”
Stephen added: “Obviously the Celtic game has been mentioned but we have to concentrate on the League. I would rather score the winner against Brechin than Celtic as we now have a big chance over the next few weeks to get right into the pack and we need to get maximum points in all the games we face.”
