Matter Of Time

The media spotlight will now move away from the international scene but in truth Clyde have been hard at work for days in preparation for this weekend’s clash against Brechin City. It certainly seems so far so good for Clyde boss Graham Roberts. As he works to maintain the momentum of a five-game unbeaten spell, the Gaffer was boosted by the return to full training of Paul Jarvie and Romauld Bouadji.

The squad will be completed by Tom Brighton when he comes back from Norway, and undoubtedly the youngster will be on a high after Scotland’s successful spell. The Club was delighted that Tom was after all able to represent Clyde in the Under 21 squad and Brighton will be aiming to continue his rich vein of form at Glebe Park.

Roberts has been delighted at the form and spirit of the players to date. He is of the opinion that it is only a matter of time that players like Neil McGregor (pictured left) and Craig Bryson (pictured below) are also recognised to represent their country.

Though he was surprised that international recognition hasn’t already occurred for some, Graham was reluctant to focus too much on individual players. He believes in the young players at the Club and is hopeful that as they work at their game and receive regular first team football then they will be rewarded for their efforts. “The boys are flying at the moment. There is a great atmosphere about the Club. Once you win a few games it becomes a habit and it breeds confidence throughout the squad.”

For fans, the Rangers game may be beginning to focus attention but the word from the training ground is that Clyde’s next two matches are much more important. “The lads returned on Monday morning after a week off and the first thing I said to them was forget the cup. It’s a massive game but we have to put it on the back burner. Three points on Saturday are vital.”
