Duffy, Dundee And Dining Out
Jim Duffy, manager of relegated Dundee, has been speaking about this season’s First Division and specifically mentioned the two sides that will be facing each other at Victoria Park in Dingwall on Saturday.
In an interview before last Saturday’s Bell’s Cup tie at Glebe Park he also added his voice to those who feel that Brechin City will be a much stronger outfit that they were in the First Division two seasons ago.
“The First Division is normally one of the more competitive Divisions and I think there are probably five or six teams who fancy themselves to win it,” asserted Jim Duffy. “Sides are now working harder, are more organised, have good fitness levels and real enthusiasm. It won’t just be about us, St Johnstone and St Mirren.”
“John Robertson is up at Ross County and will do well with them, Graham Roberts is giving Clyde a high profile and I believe a surprise package could be Brechin. They have a big squad and have players who have been around the block a bit and won’t be intimidated at this level.
“So there will be some really tough tests for us and that is the reason I want players in to give the squad a bit of variation. We will be expected to win home and away but while our mentality will be one of determination and confidence, we will also be showing total respect to our opponents.”
