Clyde’S Important Seven Days Begin In Dingwall

Graham Roberts’ re-structured Clyde team, boosted by the recent arrival of strikers Alex Williams and Tom Brighton, face a difficult week, but they do so with confidence.

Three days after today’s journey to Ross-shire, CIS Cup business sees Clyde hit the road and the miles to Dundee – and then carry on for a further thirty five miles north to Links Park in Montrose.

Then on Saturday 13 August the Dark Blues come to Broadwood on the first leg of a journey all supporters of the Dee hope will take them straight back to the Premierleague.

Clyde’s new management team are only too aware of the importance of making a good start to the League campaign and are also conscious of the many benefits which flow from a good run in either of the two major cup competitions.

Both those aspirations will get the greatest of boosts if the Bully Wee can perform well against a Ross County team which will be intent on impressing their new manager considerably more than they reportedly did in the Bell’s Cup against Montrose last week. At the same time manager John Robertson will know from his stint in Inverness that the County faithful would like nothing better than to renew local rivalries with ICT – in the SPL.

Today County are expected to be without Jim Lauchlan, Gary McSwegan and Stuart Taylor who are all injured and there may be other changes from the side which disappointed against the Gable Endies last Saturday.

Graham Roberts will be hoping that many of the good things he saw against Brechin City will again be in evidence today but he will not want to watch any repetition of the kind of play which allowed three goals to be conceded. The good news is that Clyde’s official party make the journey north happy in the knowledge that a full strength squad is available for selection.
