Gardiner Bites Back!

Clyde boss Billy Reid confirmed that recent loan signing from Hearts Chris Gardiner (pictured left) is back in full training. The young forward made a promising debut in our 1-0 victory against Hamilton but has been absent in recent weeks only making a return to the bench on Saturday. “Chris was laid low following an operation to remove his wisdom teeth but he has fully recovered and I’m sure the fans will be seeing a lot more of him in the next few weeks.”

Another inclusion on the bench on Saturday was midfielder David Greenhill who had been on loan to Montrose. “Things didn’t work out for David,” Billy explained, “and Montrose were looking to release money to bring in another striker so David has returned to Clyde. David is a promising player but I don’t think he is ready yet for regular first team football at this level. What he needs is to build up experience and regular match practice and that is why we are trying to again send him out on loan. The difficulty for us is that David is too old to play for our U19 side and because we do not not have a reserve side if he doesn’t get into the match squad he faces sitting in the stands. At this stage in his career David needs games so we’ll see what develops over the next few weeks.”
