Two In? Two Out?
Clyde boss Billy Reid spoke to the website this afternoon to give Clyde fans the latest news on squad preparations for Saturday’s cup clash with Falkirk. Sadly it appears that Craig Bryson may be losing his fitness battle.
It has been discovered that Craig has a slight tear in his calf and it is likely that the Manager will chose to rest the young midfielder. The absence of Bryson, who has shone in the previous two matches with Falkirk, would be a major blow to Clyde so the talented youngster will be given every chance to make it.
Better news for Clyde is that the rest of the squad is preparing well for the cup clash. Billy was boosted by the debut of Graeme Jones and he confirmed that under the new regulations of Scottish Cup that the newly signed forward is eligible for the Third Round game.
One striker however will be absent: Aaron Conway. The young striker, on loan from Dundee United and contracted with Clyde until January 31st, will not be selected as
United do not wish him to be cup tied.
Billy Reid is therefore well aware of the pressures that Conway’s absence and the potential loss of Bryson will put on his match day squad; indeed it will cut his total available players to 17.
Billy commented: “It is a small squad and only a couple of absences can dramatically affect my options. On Saturday for example I knew we needed to change things but we couldn’t. That is no criticism of the talented youngsters that are included in our squad but, on some
Billy continued to answer the point many Clyde fans are asking: Will additions be made to the squad?
“Certainly we are looking at players, Paul Keegan is training again with the Club and I would like to make one addition before Saturday as the squad is stretched to the limit”.
A new addition to the squad would give the supporters a real boost before this attractive tie with Falkirk and if a new signing is obtained then the website will inform you as soon as it is officially confirmed.
