Ross County V Clyde Preview
Clyde are preparing to make the longest away trip of the season tomorrow as they travel to Dingwall to face Ross County. Alex Smith’s side are traditionally strong at home but the Victoria Park side have been inconsistent this season with one win, two draws and three defeats in their last five home matches.
However County have great experience in depth. The Dingwall side were many pundits’ dark horses for the championship and their squad has the quality to justify such a prediction. Alex Smith has assembled a large number of former SPL players and the ex Clyde boss added further to their numbers yesterday by signing Aberdeen midfielder Fergus Tiernan.
It will undoubtedly be a tough match for Clyde and will be played in difficult conditions as it has been raining and snowing in Dingwall today. The temperature is expected to plunge on Saturday night but hopefully the game will escape the worst effects of winter.
Clyde travel to Dingwall with slight doubts over Craig Bryson (back) and Aron Wilford (groin) while Darren Sheridan serves the last match of his two-game suspension. Ross County look to be boosted by the return of Martin Canning while John Robertson also looks to be free from injury.
It has not been an easy week for Billy Reid as his plans have been disrupted by the weather. “We usually train at Glasgow Green but that has been waterlogged so a couple of days have been spent training on the Astroturf at Guys Meadow. It’s not ideal but all teams, especially at this time of the year, are in a similar position. Ross County
Elsewhere in the Division, runaway leaders Falkirk host Queen of the South, while most eyes will be on Firhill to see Partick Thistle take on Hamilton in the relegation six-pointer. On form Airdrie United travel to Kirkcaldy to play Raith Rovers while the card is concluded by a battle of the Saints in Perth when St Johnstone face St Mirren, who go into the match on the back of two consecutive defeats. Falkirk and Raith Rovers apart, only a few victories separate the rest of the clubs so every point is vital as the season moves into its second half.
