Reid All About The Hamilton Match
Billy Reid gave his thoughts to the Website’s Cammy Macdonald after the Hamilton Academical game.
“Obviously with us scoring in the last minute of the game it could be called a smash and grab but to be honest I thought it was a pretty even game.
“I think it was important for my team and my players after going a goal behind to respond to that. It is the first time this season we have came back from being behind to go on and win the game.
“I said at half time that after getting the goal to level that it would be nice to go on and win it. It shows the character we have in the team, with a lot of young kids who are still learning there trade, and that was satisfying for me today.
“When you are winning football is an easy game, but it’s when things go against you as sometimes happens in games that you have to show the character and we showed that today. You are always concerned when you go a goal down but as a whole team you need to try to get back into it.
“I felt the first half was a decent game and was exciting end to end, but the second half became a bit scrappy as though both teams were concerned about losing the game.
“I felt
“Scott Wilson was suffering with flu before the game and probably shouldn’t have played, but he is a big player for us. Stuart Balmer is perhaps not ready to step in and play ninety minutes so we always intended Scott to play and get through the game as much as he could which he did, but he hit a brick wall at the end. Stuart came on and held it together so all credit to him.
“Jimmy Gibson was complaining about his pelvic injury at half time, so we said to give it ten minutes and see how it was, but he was labouring slightly. With the squad I have I can’t afford to take any chances with really just sixteen players. So as a precaution I took Jimmy off and thankfully it’s worked for us.
“John Potter was up trying to get a finish at the end and thankfully he did. He is a good finisher in training so he has two for the season and long may it continue.
