Early Team News

Billy Reid was pleased to report to the Clyde website that things are looking a lot better for this Saturday’s clash with St Mirren. The Bully Wee squad was stretched to the limit last Saturday as both Scott Wilson and Gary Arbuckle were unavailable for selection.

“Scott has been training and has had no reaction to his hamstring injury so that is a boost,” concluded Billy. “Both myself and Stuart were anxious when John (Potter) went down injured during the game but he recovered, fortunately, because Stuart wasn’t ready to return. Our squad size puts us under pressure so it was a real boost to see Scott back training this week”.

Billy also highlighted another incident that occurred on Saturday. “Gary Bollan took a knock during the warm up as John Paul McKeever stood on his ankle. It was the last thing we needed as defensively we were so stretched but gladly Gary was able to run it off. I thought he came on to an excellent game for us. His experience is vital and like Darren he is a hard player and doesn’t get messed around. That is vital when the rest of the team is so young”.

There was less good news about Clyde’s influential midfielder Jimmy Gibson, who is facing a fitness battle to be available for selection against St Mirren. Jimmy, who joined Clyde from Rangers in the summer of 2003, suffered whiplash following a nasty fall against Queen of the South.

Jimmy immediately received treatment on the pitch but has needed further attention from Iain McKinlay (pictured) through the week. Jimmy is desperate to continue his successful partnership in the middle of the park with Darren Sheridan and is determined to be ready for Saturday’s crucial match. The website will keep you updated of his progress.
